Even when it comes eating out, knowing the language performs to your advantage. In more than a handful of standard German eating places, the English menus didn’t have all the dishes listed on the German menu.

Understanding the language has saved me from receiving on the wrong train, soon after last-minute platform adjustments were announced in German.

It is also an impressive asset when close friends and family come to go to, offering them additional reassurance that you’re capable to survive independently.
