West Ada deputy superintendent retires

The West Ada College District’s 2nd-in-command stepped down earlier this month.

Deputy Superintendent Bruce Gestrin retired on Nov. 17.

A 24-yr veteran in the state’s greatest college district, Gestrin had worked more than 14 years as deputy superintendent. He was assistant principal at Centennial High School from 1990 to 1994, and principal at Eagle Higher College from 1994 to 2000.

“He’s done a great deal of great issues for the West Ada School District — a lot of crucial land acquisitions, arranging on buildings. He’s manufactured contributions all above the area,” district spokesman Eric Exline advised Meridian Press.

Gestrin declined requests for interviews.

It’s unclear when West Ada will start the search for a new deputy superintendent, Exline told Meridian Press. For now, the district now has two assistant superintendents: Jan Horning and Barbara Leeds, the district’s human resources director.
